MY LIFE

Personal bio

Grew up and graduated in Silsbee then went off for one semester to Southwestern Assemblies of God College.  Returned to Beaumont (early 1990’s) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Social Work.  I met Shannon (wife) at Praise and discovered that we had a class together at Lamar (Shannon made an A and I made a B).   We married in 1997 and worked together at Praise with the student ministry.  We now have two beautiful girls who have me tied around their fingers.

Nickname(s)

Ray.  When introducing myself to my neighbors, they thought I said Ray.  After a year of being “Ray” to the parent’s and “Mr. Ray” to their children, I broke the news to them.  I’m still “Ray”.

What do you like to do in your “down time”

Out to eat with family/friends, take naps, take naps while out to eat with family/friends, loiter at Barnes and Nobles, listen to music, watch sports, camp

I know this is expected, but Jesus stands alone.  I love the way He made important matters everydayable…simple and understandable.   His life has influenced people for over 2,000 years.  Remarkable!

One of my greatest experiences with God

When God called me to the ministry.  I was doing yard work and sensed that God confirmed to me that that was His plan for my life.  No fireworks, voices, or angels, just amazing peace, compassion, and courage.
